Shaker Group
Shaker Group represents a host of leading international
air conditioning products and Home Appliances brands and continues to introduce
new home appliance products to the retail sector in the Kingdom. The following
brands represent the portfolio included in Shaker Group portfolio as of 30 June
2008G.
LG Electronics Inc.
LG Electronics Incorporated (“LG”) is a South Korean
multinational corporation. It is South Korea's second largest electronics maker
and the world's third largest appliance maker. With headquarters in Seoul, LG
Electronics is the flagship company of LG Group. LG Electronics has 75
subsidiaries worldwide that design and manufacture refrigerators, Air
Conditioning Products, laundry products, freezers, televisions, Home
Appliances, and telecommunications devices.
The Company entered into an exclusive distribution
agreement for Air Conditioning Products with LG for Saudi Arabia in 1994 and
for the first time launched their air conditioning products in the Kingdom. In
a short span, LG became a market leader with LG’s residential air conditioning
product line achieving more than 30% market share in 2007G which is more than
the market share of the first, second and third competitor combined. LG air
conditioning product line is the backbone of the Company business, accounting
for the majority of Shaker Group’s sales.
Maytag
With an operational history of over a century, Maytag is
a well known name in Home Appliances industry worldwide. In 2006G, Maytag was
acquired by Whirlpool creating the largest Home Appliances company as per US
market shares. Whirlpool management undertook review of the product portfolio
and it is expected that the revamped product range will be available in the
market by year end 2008G.
Ariston & Indesit
Merloni Elettrodomestici in 1985 acquired Indesit and
two years after this the company was listed on the stock exchange. In February
2005, Merloni Elettrodomestici was renamed Indesit Company, Indesit being the
best known of the Group’s brands outside Italy. Indesit Company, domiciled in
Italy, is Europe’s second largest appliances manufacturer and produces
appliances under the brand name of Ariston and Indesit.
ISCL has agreement since 1995G to distribute large
appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, cooking ranges) produced and
marketed under the Ariston brand. Ariston is the market leader in the Built-in
large kitchen appliances segment which is the fastest growing in Saudi Arabia.
In 2004, ISCL also secured an agreement to distribute home appliances under the
brand Indesit
American Standard
Trane Inc. is a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand and is the
successor company to the American Standard Companies. It is a global provider
of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and building
management systems and controls under the Trane and American Standard brand
names. Trane has offices, service operations, joint ventures and manufacturing
facilities around the world.
McQuay
Formed in 1872 and is amongst the Fortune 1000
companies, McQuay is the second largest air conditioning, heating, ventilating
and refrigeration company in the world. Remington®, Singer®, HermanNelson®
Company, American Air Filter® and Perfex® are amongst few of the widely
accepted brands offered by McQuay.
Shaker Group is expanding its relationship with McQuay
to offer chillers and district cooling solutions. This segment is expected to
grow strongly given the large infrastructure project and their partnership with
McQuay will position them well to benefit from this growing market.
Shaker
Shaker Group identified a market segment which seeks the
reliability of a brand but is not able to afford international brands. In order
to serve this segment, Shaker Group launched a line of appliances under the
Shaker brand. These products, including refrigerators, microwaves, freezers,
and water coolers, are manufactured by original equipment manufacturers and
branded with the Shaker name.
